Good to Know Before You Elope Here

If you have elder folks, feel free to bring them a folding chair. All other decorations and chairs not allowed unless given special permission from the park. Beginning March 1st, 2023, the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is implementing a Parking Tag Program to help preserve the Smokies and ensure your visiting experience remains superior. Unfortunately, our permit for your ceremony does not cover the required parking tag in order for you to enter the park and you must obtain a parking tag. You can find more information on how to obtain the Parking Pass and other information regarding the new Parking Tag Program here: https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/fees.htm Reminder not to carry too much. You don’t want a bunch of bags, etc in your photos. In the case of rain, we can duck into your car and wait for the weather to pass (it generally breaks quickly). Otherwise, we can plan for another day. Touch base with us in that case! Bring walking shoes if you intend to wear high heels in your ceremony. You won’t regret the flats, I promise! Speaking of tips, we highly recommend them for your team! $30/person is customary and means a lot for the work they put in! If you see elk, hooray! Please remember to enjoy and appreciate from a distance. Best times to see them are early morning or late afternoon, but the park system asks that you remain respectful of their space - getting too close causes them to expend energy that they don’t need to and could result in harm. The park system also suggests keeping a vehicle between you and them at all times as a wise safety precaution. Lastly, don’t forget to have fun. This is a day you’ll remember for the rest of your life (in the special way). Breathe, relax and enjoy. You got this. ;)
