Good to Know Before You Elope Here

It can take longer to get around the area than you might expect, especially in summer when the park is busy with tourists, cyclists, and beachgoers. Even if Google says it’s a quick drive, we recommend leaving at least 20–30 minutes earlier than you think you’ll need. Parking can be limited near Teal Lake on sunny days, so plan to arrive early to secure a spot. Travel light! You don’t want backpacks, totes, or other clutter in your photos. In the case of rain, there’s no covered shelter at Teal Lake, so you’ll want to decide ahead of time if you’d prefer to wait out a passing shower under the trees nearby, reschedule, or fully embrace a moody, rainy photo session (which can be absolutely gorgeous). We’re down for whatever you choose! If you’re wearing heels, bring a pair of walking shoes for the short trail from the parking lot to the cliffs — you won’t regret it. Speaking of tips, they are always appreciated for your team! $30/person is customary and means a lot for the care and energy they put into your day. Lastly, don’t forget to soak it all in. This is one of the most stunning spots in Michigan to say “I do.” Breathe, relax, and enjoy every moment — you’ve got this. ;)
