Alexandra & Sherman Celebrate Their City Park Elopement in New Orleans

Alexandra & Sherman met the modern way – online! The connection was instant and they knew each other was their forever person. The question was popped in a cute proposal literally on the road. Alexandra had wonderful childhood memories of New Orleans. So they chose Simply Eloped to help them wed at NOLA City Park. The two exchanged vows under the magical old trees and Spanish moss. Of course, they also enjoyed the fun side of New Orleans by celebrating their elopement with drinks on Bourbon Street! How did you meet? What was your first impression of one another? 

Sherman: When I first met Alex I knew she would be my best friend and soulmate. From the day we met, I knew I never wanted to be without her again.

Alexandra: We met through Tinder, which isn’t the cutest love story but definitely matches with our generation lol. My first thought when I met Sherman was I am going to marry this man no doubt. I knew he was my soulmate from the start. 

How did you propose or accept the proposal? 

Sherman: We were headed to my Mom’s house when I pulled over in a parking lot and said, “I think my tire just popped”. We got out of the car and started checking out the tires. I was on my knee already.  I called Alex over to look at the tire with me. She said, “nothing is wrong with the tire”, and got back up. Once she did, I stayed on the ground, grabbed her hands, and asked her to marry me! I know it’s not the most romantic way to propose but our relationship is always filled with laughter. I thought it was a funny and cute way to ask my soulmate to marry me. 

Alexandra: When Sherman popped the question I was so shocked. I thought he was joking at first. Once I realized he was serious, of course, I said yes!! We headed to his Mom’s house and told them the big news and celebrated together!

Where did you choose to elope and why did you choose that destination? 

Alexandra: We chose to elope in New Orleans because growing up, my family and I would always come to the city. I always had really good memories there so I thought it would be a fun and beautiful place to get married. We chose NOLA City Park because we always wanted an outside wedding. We loved the look with all the old trees and Spanish moss. It really made the view perfect for our dream wedding.

What attracted you to the venue you chose for your elopement?

Alexandra: What attracted us was definitely the scenery. My favorite parts were the Spanish moss, the fountain, really the whole thing was absolutely gorgeous I couldn’t have asked for a better venue.

How would you describe your elopement venue to someone who has never been there?

Alexandra: I would describe our venue as a beautiful historic city with tons of culture. Everywhere you look there is history. It’s definitely an experience. The NOLA City Park is a lovely park to visit for any reason whether you’re getting married or just wanting to take a stroll. 10/10 recommend.

What did you do before the wedding? How did you get ready? How did you feel in the moments leading up to your elopement?

Alexandra: I had someone come help me do my hair and makeup in my hotel room from Simply Eloped. This extra help, in the comfort of my room, made my wedding morning super easy and stress-free. It was pouring all morning so it was easier for me to insure my hair and makeup would look great hours later. All I had to do was put on my dress and I was ready to go. I felt very excited and also a little nervous.  I didn’t know what to expect at the venue or with the officiant or photographer.  I’m glad I trusted Simply Eloped because everything ending up working out great.

Sherman: I luckily got to sleep in while Alex got ready in another room. I was able to take my time to enjoy my wedding morning. I felt nervous but excited. 

How was your experience with Simply Eloped? 

Alexandra: I will literally never stop raving about Simply Eloped. Even my family raves about how great this company is for eloping. Not only were the prices reasonable, but everyone on the team was super friendly and professional. They helped with any and all questions Sherman and I had for them. They updated me with everything along the way. I honestly was scared at first because it all sounded too good to be true, but I’m so happy with how everything turned out. I’ve already recommended Simply Eloped to a few friends and family members that are engaged. 

How did you choose to celebrate your elopement? 

Alexandra: We celebrated with, of course, some drinks on Bourbon Street and a nice family lunch. Nothing too crazy but we definitely had a blast!

What words of encouragement do you have for those considering eloping?

Alexandra: I would say if you are considering eloping, just do it. It’s a more intimate experience for you and your partner, and you will not leave disappointed, I promise. I used to want a big crazy wedding until I started researching eloping, and I couldn’t be happier with the decision we made. It’s a beautiful experience I recommend for anyone and everyone who plan on getting married.
