Misty & Colby are a case of opposites attracting. Colby is outgoing and confident while Misty is shy. So they are the perfect match for each other! It’s like puzzle pieces coming together. So an intimate elopement was the vision right from the beginning for these two. The ‘something blue’ at their special day was everybody! Family and friends coordinated with the bride’s lush wedding bouquet by dressing up in various shades of blue. Misty was a vision in a blush gown with lace overlay. The couple stood under the Tree of Life in Audubon Park, New Orleans to exchange their vows in front of family and friends. The gnarled branches cast shadows and beams of light upon them as they kissed and celebrated. Read on to find out why Misty & Colby chose to marry in New Orleans, how they met and how Simply Eloped took the stress completely out of eloping!

How did you meet? What was your first impression of one another?

Misty: We met in college. My first impression of Colby was just awestruck. He’s so confident and charming no matter what situation he is in. I’m very shy, so seeing that confidence was attractive. He’s helped me gain so much more confidence myself.

Colby: My first impression of Misty was that she was this cute little nerf girl. Her shyness was adorable. She almost cancelled our first date when she realized it was a date!

When did you first fall in love? How did you know?

Misty: I can pinpoint the exact moment I knew I was in love with Colby. I was having a rough day mentally and we were sitting outside. He had mentioned he wanted to go to his place to have a quiet night by himself and I told him I was fine and he could go. He said, “It’s ok, you need me more right now than I need to be alone.” At that moment, I knew I was going to marry this boy.

Colby: There wasn’t a specific moment for me. One day I just realized that what my future, and all my greatest accomplishments had in common, was that Misty was right by my side.

Let’s plan your stress-free elopement. Start today!

How did you propose or accept the proposal?

Misty: Colby spent the whole day (my birthday) fake proposing so, at first, I didn’t think it was real. It’s a very Colby thing to do. He is always trying to make people laugh. Once I realized it was real I, of course, started sobbing and said ‘yes’.

What do you love about your partner?

Misty: I know that everyone probably says this but I love everything about Colby. He’s a very selfless and generous person and I mean that absolutely. He’s hilarious and goes out of his way to try and make me smile every day. He remembers the little things like bringing me my favorite drink home or surprising me with a new book.

Colby: She’s beautiful. She holds me when I’m having a bad day. The little things like making me coffee every night so I have some in the morning. Most people think it’s the big stuff but it’s all these little things that make me fall in love with her everyday.

What is the greatest strength of your relationship?

Misty: We’re best friends before everything else. We can have the best time just relaxing at home marathoning random tv shows or going on adventures like driving six hours for a slice of pizza. There’s no one we would rather just be ourselves with than each other.

Why did you decide to elope?

Colby: Misty is very shy and wanted a smaller, more intimate, ceremony. We’ve also always wanted to visit New Orleans, so eloping there accomplished all of our wishes.

How did you find Simply Eloped?

Misty: I believe I saw a Facebook ad somewhere.

How did you know Simply Eloped was the right fit for you?

Misty: After the initial email, everyone was so helpful and didn’t complain when I asked like a hundred questions. Also, when COVID started, they were very helpful with refunding and let me know I was set to reschedule whenever I was ready.

What attracted you to the venue you eloped at?

Misty: I’ve always wanted to go to New Orleans and I fell in love with the Tree of Life when I saw the photos.

What did you do before the wedding? How did you get ready? How did you feel leading up to the moments of your elopement?

Misty: We visited the city for a few days and just did ‘touristy’ things. We prepared basic wedding stuff like hair/makeup, spending time with family and telling each other how excited we were. The lead up to the ceremony was very nerve wracking. I was trying not to get sick at first. Once things got underway, I just felt pure happiness and so blessed to be surrounded by my family and to feel nothing but love.

Colby: I was full of happiness and nerves. That was the day I was starting our forever with my best friend. How can you feel anything but happiness?

Tell us about your experience with Simply Eloped leading up to and on your elopement.

Misty: 10/10 would recommend to anyone. Our officiant was so helpful and even ran through a little mini rehearsal for us. Our photographer made us feel very comfortable and took some amazing shots that we will treasure forever. They took so much of the hassle and stress off of our shoulders.

How did you celebrate after your elopement?

Colby: Bourbon Street, baby!

What words of encouragement do you have for those considering eloping?

Misty: Do it! The day is about you and your partner joining together and celebrating your love and commitment. Simply Eloped makes sure that happens.
