Why not buy a house together and propose at the same time!? Sarah & Theodore (Teddy) were all over that! Commitment and life goals are a common theme for these two and they carried that right over into their wedding planning. They knew they wanted to marry with a beautiful background behind them…and they did! They chose to exchange vows at Something Blue Mountain Venue in North Carolina with the spectacular Blue Ridge Mountains behind them. Sarah, in a glamorous lace bodice gown, joined Teddy under the arbor to vow their lives to one another. Read on to find out more about their destination elopement planning with Simply Eloped!

How did you meet? What was your first impression of one another?

Sarah: We originally met each other when we both attended the same High School in 10th grade. Teddy was a new student and we both had math class together.

When did you first fall in love? How did you know?

Sarah: Fast forward to 2015, we reconnected and quickly hit it off. Teddy said I was his soul mate pretty early on in the relationship, while I took a bit more time to open up!

How did you propose or accept the proposal?

Sarah: Teddy proposed when it was just the two of us. We were packing up the rest of our belongings at the condo where we spent the last three years living together. We had just bought our first home and were getting ready to move in. As I was taking the last load to the car, he asked me to come back up. I walked into the condo and he was down on one knee with an engagement ring in his hands. It was a complete surprise!

Let’s plan your stress-free elopement. Start today!

What do you love about your partner?

Sarah: We both love how we have a strong trusting relationship and that we are best friends.

What is the greatest strength of your relationship?

Sarah: I would say our commitment to the same goals in life around how we see marriage, family, and growing old.

Why did you decide to elope?

Sarah: The pandemic definitely made the decision easier, but Simply Eloped made the idea of a destination wedding possible.

How did you find Simply Eloped?

Sarah: I believe I found it looking for ‘destination wedding venues for small groups’!

How did you know Simply Eloped was the right fit for you?

Sarah: I thought the website was very clear about the packages and what was included. They also have great customer service to answer all your questions before you commit. I did some research on social media pages as well, to see how past elopements with Simply Eloped looked.

What attracted you to the venue you chose for your elopement?

Sarah: We wanted to elope with a beautiful background. The pictures with the mountains in the background really sealed the deal. We also liked the idea of all the modern conveniences of an indoor space to get ready.

What did you do before the wedding? How did you get ready? How did you feel in the moments leading up to your elopement?

Sarah: We got married on a Friday, so my immediate family, fiance, and I drove up from Florida to North Carolina to stay for the week. We stayed in adorable cabin accommodations and made it a true vacation with hiking, exploring the area, and having a casual dinner the night before the elopement with our parents and sisters.

Tell us about your experience with Simply Eloped leading up to and on your big day!

Sarah: It was extremely stress-free – pick a place and all the vendors show up on the confirmed date and time. I was able to connect with all my vendors beforehand to get out any nervousness of not knowing what to expect. The vendors are familiar with the venue and all have worked together in the past!

How did you celebrate after your elopement?

Sarah: Honestly, it was better than we imagined. However, we can be big homebodies sometimes so we headed back to the cabin. We had a quiet dinner there and spent the rest of the night together.

What words of encouragement do you have for those considering eloping?

Sarah: I would 100% recommend it! We were able to include our parents and siblings, so it was the perfect mix of intimate while still getting that wedding I dreamed about as a little girl. We had the dress, flowers, cake, and beautiful pictures/video to remember the day!
