Elope in Boise

Idaho is the underdog for elopement locations. Most people either confuse Idaho with Iowa or only know it by The Great Potato State. However, Idaho is a well-kept secret for private lakes, quiet mountain-tops and fields of bright wildflowers. The Boise area is a great for your elopement vibe, whether you’re seeking a city park, desolate foothill or private mountain, Boise offers it all!

The mother of the groom became hospitalized 2 days before the original date we choose. The Simply Eloped team showed concern and was flexible with us choosing a new date. They also helped us find a wheelchair accessible location to make it easier for her to attend. This was so appreciated during a stressful time for the family. Thank you Simply Eloped team!

One of my favorite elopements was this winter at bogus basin. The couple was so down for anything. We roughed the cold and we got the most amazing photos and had the best time!

How to elope in Boise

Boise is truly a breath of fresh air. You might not be able to point it out on a map, but it won’t be one of the state’s best-kept secrets for long. Boise is a hub for outdoor enthusiasts who use this lively little city as a kicking off point for their exploration of the nearby great outdoors. Hot springs here are a way of life and Bloody Marys are an obsession. From ski slopes to waterfalls and the many varied landscapes in between, Idaho’s tough outer exterior is sure to win you over.

Why should I elope in Boise?

Did we mention the hot springs? Whether you prefer low-intensity river tubing, stand-up paddle boarding, or white water rafting, greater Boise is a rugged and untouched destination for the adventurer in all of us. The city is a prime jumping-off point for explorers keen to explore some of the state’s more than 3.9 million acres of wilderness. The city is also making waves with its farm-to-table food movement, which pairs beautifully with the vineyards and breweries popping up across the state.

Where are the best places to elope in Boise, Idaho?

Situated a mere 16 miles north-northeast of the city of Boise, the Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area is a picture-perfect snowy mountain setting with scenic views of both the Boise National Forest and the Treasure Valley. If rolling hills are what you’ve envisioned for your elopement, Camel’s Back Park is a gorgeous 11-acre urban park in a beautiful neighborhood in downtown Boise. The green gateway to Hull’s Gulch Reserve and the Boise Foothills, Camel’s Back Park features striking hills surrounding the park, giving it its namesake, and it adds drama to any elopement photoshoot. The picnic area at the park can also be reserved up to 11 months in advance. Buffered by green gardens and made of marble, the Idaho Capitol Building makes for an extra enchanting and extra simple wedding venue. Choose from the extravagant front steps and the glamorous Capitol Rotunda. Note that reservations are not required for public use of the State Capitol, so permission to use these spaces is granted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Do you need witnesses to elope in Boise?

Nope! No witnesses are required in the state of Idaho.

How do I legally elope in Boise?

You do not need to be a resident of Idaho to obtain an Idaho marriage license, but an Idaho State marriage license is only valid for ceremonies performed within the state of Idaho. Marriage licenses are issued by County Recorders and no appointment is necessary. Both you and your partner will need to appear together at a County Recorder’s Office with about $30, a valid form of identification, and a social security number for each applicant. Both parties will be required to read an AIDS information sheet. Once you have been granted your marriage license, you can go ahead and get married right away! There is no waiting period for using an Idaho marriage license. Non-U.S. residents should bring identification from their home country. If either you or your partner does not have a social security number, you will need to get a letter from the nearest Social Security Office. You should note that the marriage license fee varies by county and that some counties charge up to $20 more to process these requests on Saturdays.

What is the best way to get to and around Boise?

The Boise Airport is just four miles — a seven-minute drive — from the heart of downtown Boise. Flights tend to be the cheapest in August. If you live in the continental United States and prefer a more scenic journey, Boise is also accessible by train from 54 other U.S. cities. To explore downtown Boise, you can get around to most places on foot, but if you want to trek further afield, renting a car is your best bet.

When should I elope in Boise?

Winter and summer are the peak tourism seasons in Boise, as visitors take to the mountains for hiking in the summer and snow sports in the winter. Spring can be chilly, as winter tends to stick around, but autumn is just right. Average temperatures in the high 60’s are perfect for outdoor activities and the natural parks surrounding the city of Boise experience phenomenal fall foliage through the end of October.
