Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park

Cape Florida has a stretch of sand often ranked in the top 10 beaches nationwide. The area has served as a beacon for freedom from Seminole Indians to runaway slaves who secretly gathered before safely departing to the British Bahamas. Explorer Ponce de Leon named the spot during the first Spanish expedition in 1513. The lighthouse dates back to 1825 and offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay.
