The garden and house are located in historic downtown St. Augustine. Large oaks and magnolia provide a canopy of shade from the sunshine and the courtyard is buffered from the bustle of downtown by a wall and shrubbery. The house was built around 1750 for the Royal Spanish Treasurer, Juan Estevan de Peña. Later, Dr. Seth Peck, who added the second story during renovation of the house, purchased the home in 1837.
