Customize your PackageHouston is an international city with incredible food, world-class art museums, and a plethora of city parks. Despite being the biggest city in Texas with a population of more than two million, Houston’s elopement venues can still offer intimacy. The Houston Arboretum offers 155 acres of rich, green foliage, conveniently located on the western edge of Memorial Park. Celebration Gardens will also provide your small wedding with a garden backdrop, albeit a more manicured one. If you’re game for a drive, about 45-minutes outside of Houston there’s the Oak Atelier and the Galveston Beaches. The Oak Atelier is located in aptly named Woodlands and offers four different studio spaces for rent, all with their own unique charm of classic and modern elements. Drive west of Houston and you’ll hit the coast and the Gulf of Mexico where the sandy beaches are ideal for a small, romantic elopement. The Galveston Beaches and Seawall are especially perfect if you’re interested in a sunrise ceremony!
If you’re hoping to elope in Dallas—another cultural hub known for its breweries, Bishop Arts District, and beautiful neighborhoods—there are a few really stellar options. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden is among our favorites, with views looking over White Rock Lake and plenty of hidden nooks, lush foliage, and art pieces perfect for your Texas elopement. We also like the Fort Worth Botanic Garden [insert venue url] just a city over, as well as Lake Cliff Park, which boasts mature trees (cypress, red cedar, pecans, and cottonwoods), a sunken lake, and views of the Dallas skyline.
Austin is perhaps the most popular city in Texas for elopements and we can see why: there’s no shortage of things to do or natural beauty. Located in the heart of Texas hill country, Austin is known for being super cool by keeping it weird, as well as cultivating a thriving arts and culinary scene. Our favorite place for a small wedding in Austin is the Sekrit Theater, a garden and revamped greenhouse with an eclectic and DIY-style vibe. The themed Japanese of Rose gardens at the Zilker Botanical Garden make for a verdant, peaceful Austin elopement, while the open-air Chapel Dulcinea offers a stunning view of Texas Hill Country. Our last Austin elopement pick is The Vineyards at Chappel Lodge, just minutes from downtown. With a California-inspired vibe, this Austin wedding venue offers a stone-paved aisle, a natural backdrop of Texas live oak trees, and uplighting in a canopy. Oh, and it’s a functioning vineyard!
Texas is a year-round elopement destination, with warm weather in Austin, Dallas, and Houston all year. That being said, Texan summer, which is roughly June through August, sees temperatures in the high 90’s with high humidity. For that reason we recommend September to November or March to May, when temperatures are in the 70’s and 80’s and the humidity isn’t too bad. When it does rain in Texas, showers tend to be short and intense, although occasionally rainy periods can last a couple of days.
Due to the potential for heat and harsh lighting, we recommend the hours around sunrise and sunset for elopements. For indoor or heavily shaded locations, this is obviously less of an issue. If you’re planning on eloping in a public place, however, avoid crowds by planning a ceremony around opening and closing time.
We truly believe your small Texas wedding or elopement shouldn’t be stressful—elopement packages are a great way to save both money and avoid a headache. Simply Eloped’s wedding packages pair you with an experienced, low-cost officiant, as well as a photographer, videographer, hair and makeup artist, and even an on-site depending on your elopement package. We offer customizable packages of all sorts ensuring a Texas elopement can be incredibly affordable. Some venues, such as Houston’s Celebration Garden, also offer significant discounts in the off-season (outside the months of March, April, May, and October).
Austin, Houston, and Dallas all boast major airports (Dallas actually has two) with frequent flight deals and there’s no shortage of affordable lodging options, from Airbnbs to budget hotels. The average cost of a Texas vacation per person is just over $1,000 a week, which includes lodging, dining, transportation, and entertainment. If you decide to rent a car during your time in Texas, know that the state has some of the lowest gas prices in the world.

To obtain a marriage license in Texas, you don’t have to be a state resident. Both parties just need to show up with a valid photo ID, such as a driver’s license, copy of a birth certificate, or passport. U.S. citizens will also need to know their social security numbers, although the physical card isn’t necessary. If you get a license in one county in Texas it’s good for all locations, you just have to file it back with the original county. Texas marriage licenses are good for 90 days and will cost between $70-$85 depending on the county (some counties only take cash, so check beforehand). If both parties are Texas residents, taking an eight hour premarital class can save you $60.
Unless you’re active duty military, there’s a 72 hour waiting period for all marriage licenses in Texas.
Nope! No witnesses are required to elope in Texas – perfect place to tie the knot!
1. We don't believe a wedding has to be stressful. There is far less to coordinate (and we take on most of that planning anyhow), and your realm of responsibility consists of making a few decisions and getting your marriage license. It's hard to beat a wedding that is actually...wait for it...relaxing!
2. Cost-conscious: Let's be honest, there is so much uncertainty right now! Economic recession? Inflation? Rising cost of living? Save your money for a honeymoon or buying a house and still have a ceremony you'll remember for the rest of your lives.
3. A Ceremony should be About YOU and YOUR LOVE: When did a wedding turn into a party for everyone else? We personalize every aspect of your experience – from the vendors to the vows. We'll even cry real tears with you. We're here to celebrate the core of what makes a wedding ceremony special: you making a lifetime commitment to the one you love. That's a big deal – and we treat it as such.
1. Flowers by Palette We have arrangements based on a color palette, which means the types of flowers may not be exactly as pictured, but the colors and arrangement style will match. You can explore our options for Flowers by Palette here (excluding Hawaii).
2. Hawaiian Arrangements Hawaii is a unique destination, and we have our stunning tropical arrangements for ceremonies taking place in Hawaii. You can view these arrangements here. Please note that these arrangements are only available in Hawaii.
As soon as you book our services, we get to work! We'll immediately introduce you to your Personal Elopement Planner, who is kind of like your best friend between the date you book and the day you elope! Your Pep will be ensuring every step of the process is smooth and delightful. They will introduce you to your team, answer any questions you have, put your schedule and invoice together, and much more!
We'll also begin the process of personalizing. You'll work with your officiant to ensure your ceremony matches what you envision and dream of. Your photographer will ensure they understand the kind of shots or photos you're hoping for. Your hair & makeup artist will inquire about the style you're going for with your hair and makeup. Your dashboard is also customized to meet your needs.
We offer many tools to help you feel at ease about your decision to book Simply Eloped, including your personalized Elopement Checklist, your marriage license guide, your Wedding Page, and more! You can even make installment payments on your invoice at 0% APR. Weeks prior to your ceremony, we'll send your itinerary with all the details you and your guests need. Your team will meet at your ceremony site, and the rest, as they say, is history.
First off, know that every moment of your elopement day, we are available to you for whatever you need! We're very prompt on timing with floral delivery, hair & makeup, etc.
Your team will always meet at your venue prior to your ceremony time to ensure everyone is collected, introduced, and ready for a gorgeous ceremony right on time. Your officiant will kick off your ceremony and ensure that all of your requests are beautifully exhibited in your personalized ceremony. It's important to note that your dedicated Personal Elopement Planner will not be present at the ceremony, but will definitely be accessible by phone or text for your day-of needs.
Ceremonies generally last 15-20 minutes, which will then kick off into your portrait session with your photographer (if you booked one with us). The main task you need to be mindful of on your big day is bringing your marriage license, and we do the rest! 🌼👰🤵
We wish we could control the weather, but alas, there are some things quite simply out of our realm of power.
In our experience, most weather passes quickly, and we can be flexible about timing. However, we do have recommendations or options for indoor venues, and if worst comes to worst, we can move your ceremony to another day. We'll work with you individually in the case of poor weather.
Pro tip: Though weather can be daunting or scary, some of our FAVORITE ceremonies happen in thunder, rain, or snow storms. Being open-minded about ""undesirable"" weather can create an extremely memorable ceremony. Sometimes it's all about perspective.
