The Wildflower Experience from Simply Eloped is for the adventurous couple – the kind of couple who wants a beautiful, intimate wedding experience deep in the wilderness, surrounded by a stunning view and the best that nature has to offer. Created with the help of our rockstar Colorado officiant & photographer duo Jess and Austin Drawhorn, this adventure elopement package will take you into some of the best scenery Colorado has to offer.

So, what exactly is an adventure elopement?

An adventure elopement is when a couple decides to forego a traditional wedding and instead, hold your ceremony in nature, surrounded by gorgeous scenery. Living up to its name, an adventure elopement usually means that there is some kind of hiking to get to your desired spot (and yes, this means you may get some dirt on your beautiful white dress!), and typically, an adventure elopement means that it’s just the couple, their vendors, and possibly a few able-bodied friends. If you’re the adventurous types, and the idea of waking up early for a hike to find a hidden gem of a spot to recite your vows sounds right up your alley, then the Wildflower Experience — our adventure elopement package — might be right for you.

A little bit about the Wildflower Experience: You, your partner, your officiant & your elopement photographer, all exploring a gorgeous natural space together as part of an immersive experience tailored to you. You’ll get married in an incredible location, incorporating only what speaks to you – and we’ll be there to guide and document it from start to finish. If you choose this package in the Colorado are, based on one of the experiences, we offer, the cost is $3,500 and includes all permit and travel fees.

Wildflower Experiences

Colorado

Lake Isabelle

This glacier-fed alpine lake – nestled right in the heart of the Indian Peaks Wilderness – is completely surrounded by incredible peaks. We’ll hike 2.5 miles one way through old growth forest, passing smaller lakes, waterfalls, and wildlife along the way before reaching the ceremony location on the shores of Lake Isabelle. This hike is considered ‘moderate’ and is easy accessible from June through October, and may be accessed by seasoned hikers with appropriate gear during the winter.

Silver Dollar Lake

Fall is the absolute best time to visit Colorado and there’s no better way to experience the vibrant fall colors than by heading up Guanella Pass to Silver Dollar Lake. The forested trail opens up to a beautiful overlook point above Nayor Lake. We’ll pause there for some epic photos before leaving the treeline behind and pressing on towards Silver Dollar Lake. This trail is considered ‘moderate’ mostly thanks to one quarter mile rocky scramble that is fairly exposed. The rest of the trail is smooth sailing, although you will experience quite a bit of elevation gain. We have several amazing options for ceremony locations – the sandy shores of Silver Dollar Lake, or two different cliffs overlooking Naylor Lake. This hike is accessible Mid-June  through October, with September and October bringing the most amazing orange foliage.

Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park is one of the most incredible natural areas in the country. This park has so much to offer and we’ve love to help you decide on one of the many possible paths your RMNP adventure elopement could take. We could go on an epic hike to a pristine alpine lake or we could mix and match any number of easy going lookout points, accessible lake shores or low-key rock scrambling to create the perfect itinerary for your wedding day! This  experience can be tailored to any ability or accessibility level, but by default will include a few long walks on established paths or trails. Available year-round, but keep in mind that a large expanse of the park is closed from November through May.

How does the Wildflower package differ from the Sprout of Bloom packages?

Sprout & Bloom packages are short-and-sweet hour-long sessions at a single location. Extra time added here goes toward making time for family/friends photos and extra time to relax the pace a bit and pull off some more creative shots with a couple.

Wildflower experiences are more involved, often including longer hikes, travel time between locations, more planning, and more photo coverage throughout the session.

Who are Jess and Austin?

They are a married couple who have eloped in Rocky Mountain National Park themselves. They’re adventure enthusiasts who spend their free time outdoors, exploring the incredible outdoor experience Colorado has to offer. They’re also experienced professionals, your guide to the wedding planning/ceremony writing process, and can offer any local insight you are seeking. They’re ultimately the duo to make your wedding day the best possible experience!
