If live oak trees with Spanish moss and quaint Victorian townhomes are your idea of the perfect ceremony backdrop, then you may want to consider a Savannah elopement like Vanessa and Brian! And having a Forsyth Park wedding or elopement is the perfect destination to do so: the park is filled with lush greenery, an iconic fountain, and colorful homes dotted along the park’s outskirts, meaning your Savannah elopement will have the southern charm you’re wanting for your day. After Vanessa and Brian realized planning a wedding amidst the current pandemic was simply not an option they’d want to go through with, the couple eloped on May 20, 2020 at Forsyth Park, then headed back to the beautiful Alida Hotel to capture some more intimate post-ceremony portraits. Scroll below to read their love story and to check out the incredible photos that were captured that day!
We knew we liked Simply Eloped based the packages they provide, professionalism, and prompt communication. Another selling point was the edgy and sophisticated style of their photography. Flexibility is important and the Simply Eloped team were more than happy to improvise if need be.
We chose Savannah because of incredible scenery and it’s proximity to where we live. There were a number of locations to choose from but Forsyth Park in our opinion was the most beautiful.
We stayed at The Alida Hotel in Savannah. Brian had told the manager we were going to get married and she delightfully upgraded our room to a beautiful suite. We chose to stay in and enjoy our wedding morning together. It was raining all morning so we were a bit concerned that the wedding would be rained out. Right before it was time to leave the hotel the clouds disappeared and the sun came out. We both had feelings of happiness, anticipation, and relief that the sun would shine down on us on our perfect day.
Eloping is a personal choice. People who truly love and support you, will honor how you choose to get married. Marriage is about love and commitment and eloping is an incredibly intimate way to celebrate that union. We would choose an elopement again and again if we could! It was the best decision ever.
It was the start of a beautiful thing when Kacie & Taylor met – they both thought they looked better in person than in their dating app photos! There was instant chemistry! Long story short, they decided they would rather invest in a new home together than an expensive wedding. That’s when they found Simply Eloped who helped them have a perfect elopement in Savannah, Georgia. Kacie had an epic wedding gown as she and Tyler eloped in beautiful Chippewa Square. Their families watched as they exchanged their vows under the trees and then celebrated with champagne. Read more to find out how Kacie & Taylor got engaged and decided on Simply Eloped to help them plan their elopement.
Kacie: A google search confirmed that Simply Eloped was the best. It had the best reviews and vendors that they had vetted. We wouldn’t have to do a ton of our own research.
Kacie: We actually found both the officiant and photographer on Instagram, and after several in depth stalking sessions, I was sure they were the right fit for us.
What attracted you to the venue you eloped at?
Kacie: It was close enough to be an easy trip for our parents, but far enough that our friends wouldn’t be expecting an invite! Plus, Savannah is just a beautiful backdrop for an elopement.
Kacie: We took more time planning the honeymoon. We were so excited to take a trip and explore Savannah. The wedding itself sort of snuck on us! We didn’t think we would be so nervous, but the hour before took a lifetime!
Kacie: Go for it! Everyone I know who has eloped has said it feels so much more intimate and special. Most people who have the big event don’t get to enjoy it the way they want and the cost is astronomical. Also, go for the big dress and the exciting suit. It might be an elopement but it’s still your day and you should feel fabulous!!
Natasha & Dinko met as workmates and clicked immediately. They soon realized that nothing else mattered when they were together and they became partners in life. They also knew they did not want a large wedding and dreamed of tying the knot under the mossy trees of Pulaski Square in Savannah. They found Simply Eloped online and immediately loved that they could hand over all the hard work to a team of experienced professionals! Read more on their story about how they fell in love, when they ‘knew’ and why they chose to elope in Georgia.
Natasha: I googled ‘elopements’ in Savannah, Georgia.
Natasha: Dinko and I visit Savannah every year and we love it. I had always wanted to get married there but thought it would be too difficult to arrange. But then I found Simply Eloped! We chose to wed at Pulaski Square, instead of Forsyth Park, so it would be more intimate.
Natasha: The day of the wedding, Pink Chique arrived to do my hair and makeup, which turned out exactly as I had wanted. Afterwards, Dinko and I just hung out in the hotel room and watched The Office until it was time to leave. Traffic was CRAZY and it took almost thirty minutes to get the five minutes from the hotel to the Square which added to our nerves. However, we made it on time and everything turned out perfectly.
Natasha: After the ceremony, Dinko and I left everyone to take pictures which was so much fun and intimate. Then we went to River Street for dinner with our family and, afterwards, to a few bars to celebrate.
Laura & Karissa met just like you see in the movies…at the movies! Each saw the other and knew they were the one. Fast forward and, after two proposals, they began to plan the beach elopement they envisioned. They chose Tybee Island in Georgia as their destination to tie the knot. They enjoyed the sandy beach and ocean breeze as they exchanged vows. Afterward, historic Savannah awaited them as they celebrated with a wonderful meal and champagne. Find out why Laura & Karissa thought their Simply Eloped wedding was utterly perfect.
Laura: We met at the town’s movie theater. Once I saw Karissa, I knew she was the one.
Karissa: I saw Laura walking into the theater and thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen and just had to talk to her.
Laura: I proposed in two ways. The first time we were lying in bed discussing our relationship, and it hit me. I had been carrying around Karissa’s engagement ring for some time and just couldn’t help myself. I felt so nervous but, after I gave my speech, the love of my life said YES!!!! The second proposal I got her nails done, bought her a dress, and took her to this lovely hidden place in our town. It’s like a fantasy getaway. I proposed to her on the pier while her step-sister took our pictures.
Karissa: I was stunned, but it was a long time coming. I was so excited to be Laura’s fiance!
Karissa+Laura: We chose Tybee Island because it’s close to home, and the pictures were just beautiful on the beach. We both have always wanted to get married on the beach.
Karissa+Laura: Honestly, the water and the sand. We are both big fans of beach life, and there is no better getaway than Tybee Island !!
Karissa+Laura: A fantasy. It’s so comfortable there. And very gay friendly. Everyone treated us with respect. And didn’t act like we were unnatural. We felt at peace.
Karissa+Laura: We shopped for our wedding dresses, got our hair and nails done, had our wedding party with family and friends, and arranged all of the places we would stay and what we were going to do for our honeymoon.
Karissa+Laura: PERFECT!! COULDN’T ASK FOR A BETTER VENUE AND COMPANY.
Karissa+Laura: We went to Elizabeth on 37th and had great food and champagne to celebrate. With lots of sweet kisses, smiles, and laughter!
Karissa+Laura: DO IT!!! BEST DECISION WE HAVE EVER MADE!! It’s more personal, and that’s how you want to start your lives together.
Kassie & Cory are a dating app success story! They clicked right away and by the time they got to their first date, they felt they had known each other forever. The two of them decided they did not want to experience a large wedding. So they found themselves looking to wed with Simply Eloped. They chose Savannah, Georgia, for the beauty of the city and Troup Square for its romantic mood. The nearby church added a wonderful historic feel to the entire day. We love the idea of the photo charm on Kassie’s bouquet. Read on to find out more about this no-stress elopement and why the photo charm was so important to Kassie & Cory’s day.
Kassie: We met on the Hinge Dating App and instantly made a connection. By the time we went on our first date, it was as if we had known each other for years. Even now, we find it amazing that we’ve only been together a couple of years instead of a couple of decades.
Kassie: I’m not sure of the exact moment for either of us. I knew after a few dates that I really liked him and that we really clicked. One night, while we were sitting on the couch after dinner, it kind of just hit me that I had never felt this way about someone.
Kassie: For our first date, we went to a little Mexican restaurant in town that had a taco truck set up where the old location was. Cory drove us out to the taco truck on our first anniversary and, while we were waiting for our food, he proposed with the most beautiful opal ring.
Kassie: I love his dedication and his sense of adventure. I love how our humor meshes so well. I love how we can share responsibility which makes both of our lives easier.
Kassie: Unconditional understanding and support. Since we began seeing each other, we have been through so much, from legal battles to a pandemic to losing my Dad and Grandpa.
Kassie: We had both been married previously and were both miserable when it came to planning things. We had spent way too much money and time planning a party for a bunch of other people to enjoy. Additionally, with the pandemic and loss of family members, eloping made sense. We could make it about us. There is something extra fun about running away from it all to elope!
Kassie: I was sitting on the couch one night googling and searching through Pinterest, trying to figure out how one even goes about eloping. It was like a sign from above that I came across an ad for Simply Eloped. A couple of hours later, we had picked a location, what services we wanted, and had an official date!
Kassie: How could they not be? They make it so easy to explore venues and locations. They even helped me find services like nails and a dry cleaner that they don’t directly offer. They made it so easy.
Kassie: You can’t get more beautiful or charming than Savannah, Georgia. Cory had worked there for a couple of years and was familiar with the area. We were also trying to strategically pick a location within a reasonable driving distance to Orlando, Florida, because, before the wedding, I ran my first half marathon!
Kassie: The day before, we ran around Savannah, so we could get our marriage certificate and drop my dress off at a cleaner to get it steamed, I got my nails done, and we went to a local restaurant to have our rehearsal dinner of sorts. On the elopement day, we went for breakfast and had a relaxed morning while we waited for my hair and make-up to show up. We got dressed and drove down to our venue, where our officiant, videographer, and photographer were waiting for us. Honestly, I couldn’t believe how easy it was. There was no pressure, and there was no stress. It was just the two of us and what we wanted.
Kassie: The correspondence was excellent. If I had a question, I would email them, and they would always get back promptly.
Kassie: We had a reservation to go to a very nice restaurant where we exceeded the dress code. A couple at the restaurant ended up picking up our tab, which was an incredible gift!
Kassie: If you’re looking for a simple, stress-free, low-key, intimate way of getting married, then this is for you. We couldn’t picture doing it any other way, especially since the two of us had already done the big wedding in our past. It was perfect.

Jessica & Jonathan met at the movies and had an instant connection. Jonathan turned up the romance with his Savannah, Georgia proposal, which ended with a carriage ride through the city’s historic downtown. So, when they planned their intimate elopement, they decided to return to where they were engaged. They were so happy to have Simply Eloped take care of all details for their Whitefield Square ceremony. After their vows under the gazebo, they took advantage of nearby Forsyth Park for their photos. The newlyweds then joined family and friends at a nearby restaurant for a meal and to cut the wedding cake! Jessica & Jonathan have some great advice for other couples looking to elope, so read on!
Jessica: I met Jonathan through my brother. I went along with them to a get-together with their friends. He and I instantly had a connection. My first impression of him was that he was very sweet and talkative.
Jonathan: As Jessica said, we met at a movie outing with some friends. My first impression of Jessica was that she was very cute and had a quiet but sweet demeanor.
Jonathan: I planned a trip to Savannah, GA (our first time visiting the city) and got a nice hotel in the historic downtown district. I took her to a nice local restaurant. After which, I took her to the nearby Telfair Square and got on one knee as she was viewing the Telfair art museum. She turned around and, to my great joy, said yes. Right after this moment, I had planned for a private horse carriage to arrive at the location with flowers. We ended the night with an excellent tour of the downtown area in our carriage.
Jessica: I said yes, of course! Jonathan went above and beyond, and it was one of the most romantic things he had ever done. I will always cherish and remember that night.
Jessica & Jonathan: We chose to elope in Savannah, GA, due to our proposal story taking place there. We ended up eloping about two years after the proposal, and it was our first time revisiting the city since then.
Jessica & Jonathan: We chose Whitefield Square to get married at because of its beautiful gazebo. Also, Jonathan’s mother’s side of the family has the name Whitfield. The square was conveniently close to the beautiful Forsyth Park, where we had many of our wedding pictures taken.
Jessica & Jonathan: We both felt that it was the perfect place to exchange our vows with the scenery around us and the feel of the location. All of the beautiful oak trees enhanced the atmosphere.
Jessica: Jonathan and I got ready separately so he would not be able to see me in my wedding dress until the ceremony. At the same time, I felt at ease and nervous due to wanting everything to go as planned. And fortunately, everything turned out better than I could have wanted.
Jonathan: Leading up to the actual trip, Jessica bought a wedding dress, and I rented a suit. We bought each other’s wedding bands. Before the actual ceremony, I separated from Jessica and went to get ready at a hotel where my family was staying. I felt nervous but very excited to be doing this finally.
Jessica: my experience was very positive with everyone assigned to us. The hair and makeup pro did an amazing job. I loved my bouquet. Our officiant was very accommodating and communicative with us before the ceremony. I can’t say enough positive things about our photographer, Hilary Dykas! She was so easy to work with, and the photos came out better than I could have ever hoped. Our videographer was also very professional, and we are excited to see the final product of his work.
Jonathan: I had a great experience with Simply Eloped. Planning a wedding can be very complicated with a lot of components. The package we used combined many of these components (officiator, photographer, videographer, etc) into a pretty good value. This took a lot of stress off of us, making the special day go right. Our officiator, Tina, was awesome conducting the ceremony with a loving, sincere tone that ourselves and our family enjoyed.
Jessica & Jonathan: We had some of our close family members meet us in Savannah to witness the ceremony. Afterwards, we ate dinner at a nice restaurant to enjoy our wedding cake and each other’s company. We also stayed in Savannah for an additional day or so to further explore the city and enjoy our trip.
Jessica & Jonathan: Every couple’s situation and preferences are different. But for those who are wanting a smaller, more intimate, and memorable wedding; we can’t recommend the elopement service enough. The location provided a very unique experience we would not have been able to have in our hometown. We were still able to have close family attend without any issues. Elopement doesn’t always mean being alone if you want to share the moment with loved ones. We chose to go with a smaller guest count, and we both felt like we had a very nice wedding without breaking the bank. This plan really helped us balance between our financial priorities and having a beautiful wedding that was right for us.

Haley has a serious love of autumn, so she was thrilled when Zach proposed in a corn maze. Of course, she said yes! Haley says everyone knew she was not a traditional wedding type of girl, so it surprised no one when the couple chose to elope. With its Spanish moss and southern romance, Forsyth Park turned out to be the perfect place for these two. They tied the knot around the historic Savannah fountain with those closest to them. We love that they had a ‘first look’ moment with each other. Be sure to read their encouraging words about choosing to elope. They loved every moment of their Simply Eloped experience, and we couldn’t be happier to hear that!
Haley: We met on the dating app Hinge. My honest first thought when I saw him was that he looked like he worked out every day, and there was no way he’d be into me. He said he fell in love with my smile and dimple right away. I think our shared sense of humor also played a big part in that.
Haley: My favorite time of the year is fall. I love everything about fall and Halloween, so Zach proposing while at an orchard & cider mill was perfect. We had gone to Lexington for a weekend getaway, and he proposed while we were in the corn maze. Obviously, I said yes.
Haley: We eloped in Forsyth Park in Savannah, Georgia. We considered a few locations that Simply Eloped offered, but ultimately we settled on Savannah because of the romantic feel of the city and Forsyth Park. After seeing our photos, I am so happy with our choice. The park is beautiful, and I love all the Spanish moss and old Savannah homes outside the park (and, of course, the fountain). My parents, my sister & brother-in-law (and soon-to-be nephew) all just moved to Savannah (AFTER we planned to elope here), so I think this will be a very special place for us.
Haley: The scenery and romance of Forsyth Park are what attracted us to that venue. I knew the photos would be beautiful, and they really capture the southern romantic feel. I loved being in the middle of the city and not having to travel very far out for our ceremony so we could easily go to dinner right after. We also stayed at the Mansion on Forsyth Park, so we could just walk over to the park, which was so convenient.
Haley: Think beautiful landscapes and gorgeous architecture filled with history. There’s both a romantic and eerie vibe due to the “hauntedness” of Savannah. The whole city of Savannah is filled with history, and I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the venues here.
Haley: We kept with tradition and didn’t see each other the day of our elopement until the ceremony. I spent the day relaxing at the Mansion on Forsyth Park, and hair and make-up came to me. I walked to a cute cafe in the morning and had lunch delivered to me. My flowers were also delivered to the hotel. After I got dressed, my day-of helper met me outside the hotel, and we walked to the park together while she went over the action plan. Zach spent the day hanging out with his mom and walking the city until he had to get dressed and meet at the park. We were both a little nervous right before the ceremony, but the “first look” really helped ease the nerves.
Haley: I loved every part of my experience with Simply Eloped. I think the cost was reasonable, and the whole process was so easy. I booked with Simply Eloped, booked hotels and flights. We basically had our whole elopement planned in an hour.
Haley: We never really celebrated our elopement, but we still might do something with family and friends later on.
Haley: Do it!! People know that I’m not a wedding person. I have planned to elope for a loooong time. Your wedding should be about you. You shouldn’t need to spend an arm and a leg for this one day that goes by in the blink of an eye. Eloping together in Savannah was so special, and we got to spend the time together, not mingling with hundreds of other people and stressing about the day. However, my parents and Zach’s mom were at our ceremony, and I would definitely recommend inviting those closest to you. Initially, we weren’t going to have any guests, but now I am really glad that they were there. Also, don’t let the added tasks of eloping in another state scare you away. We are from Ohio & Northern Kentucky, and we eloped in Georgia. We applied for a marriage license in the county we were getting married in, made an appointment at their probate court for the day before our elopement, and got our marriage license that day. It’s much simpler than it sounds, so don’t let it scare you away from going where you want to go.
