What do you think makes eloping in Colorado so special?

Colorado is a truly heaven on earth. The mountains are so breathtaking, the trails are rugged and intimate and the state as a whole is warm and inviting. Even in the thick of a winter storm, you will always be welcomed with open arms and greeted with a warm cup of coffee. You can’t beat it! !

What’s your favorite elopement venue in Colorado?

I would say either Lost Gulch Lookout for sunset and Garden of the Gods for sunrise!

What’s a fun fact about you?

I’ve jumped out of a perfectly good airplane.

How to Elope in Denver?

Getting your marriage license in either Boulder or Denver is simple! You can get one at any county clerk’s office in the state, regardless of the county that you are eloping in. These offices are typically open from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, no appointment necessary. You can even complete parts of the marriage license online before your visit to cut down on the time you’ll need to spend in the clerk’s office. For your appointment, you will need to bring the social security numbers and one form of identification for each person who wants to get married and $30.

Once you’ve been given your marriage license, you will need to use it within 35 days or it will expire. After your elopement, you can either drop the license off in person at the office where it was issued or you can choose to mail it in to have it officially recorded. Since you need your marriage license on your elopement day, we suggest you tack on an additional day in Colorado in advance of the big day, so you don’t spend the morning of your elopement doing paperwork.

How much does it cost to elope in Boulder?

There is a Boulder wedding for every budget and the same is true for Denver elopements, too!. The only required cost here is the $30 fee for a Colorado marriage license. Some outdoor venues require a permit and travel fees for elopements, so be sure to do some research into your desired spot if you’re hoping to keep costs low.

Do you need witnesses to elope in Boulder?

You won’t need witnesses to get legally married in Colorado!

Can you get married on the same day in Boulder and Denver?

There’s no waiting period on marriage licenses in Colorado, so you can get married the same day as you apply for your license. If you are visiting from out of state, you should consider getting in a few days before your actual elopement so you have time to visit the county clerk’s office — and adjust to the altitude — before the big day.

What is the best time of year for a Boulder elopement?

The first thing to know about weather in Boulder and Denver is that it is very unpredictable. Be prepared to be a little bit flexible in any season, as last-minute changes in the forecast are common. That said, both Denver and Boulder are beautiful all year for outdoor elopements. If you’re worried about inclement weather, July through September are the only months where you are unlikely to see snow around these parts. This means you’ll also have the widest array of open locations to choose from, but it also means more competition from other couples.

If you have your heart set on a wildflower backdrop, July is your month. If you’re keen on fall foliage, plan to visit in September or October. If you want to avoid the crowds and competition at some of the region’s more popular outdoor attractions, the winter months are your best bet.

Each January as part of the National Western Stock Show, a parade of livestock rumbles through the streets of Denver, so check the calendar if your elopement is planned for the beginning of the year. This way, you can choose to avoid the festivities or incorporate them into your elopement photoshoot!

What is the best day of the week for a Boulder or Denver elopement?

Boulder is very popular for elopements and gets a lot of visitors. If you can plan your elopement on a weekday, you have a better chance of securing the venue of your dreams and avoiding the hassle of traffic and crowded footpaths.
